It was evening and I had just returned from the training I spoke about the last time.
I turned on my internet connection to check out what was happening online.
Behold, I saw that nysc had started releasing call-up letters.. cheeii 😐
I became sweaty and uncomfortable.
Before now, I had decided that I was going to accept my posting come what may. I believed that God was totally in charge of this because I had prayed so much about His will on this matter.
In one tiny corner of my mind, I was whispering "Akwa Ibom.. Akwa Ibom" but my spiritual self was saying
"Lord let your will be done" 🙌
(Who can relate! 😄)
I checked my dashboard ..nothing yet. Haaa God abeg oh.
I chatted Gloria up to ask how far. (Gloria attended the same school with me).
She had seen hers and it turned out to be Cross River.
Okay, small hope for me (I thought).
I waited a little, then I decided to call Dinma.
Omoh she blew my mind away when she said she was posted to Akwa Ibom!
My long desired Akwa Ibom 🤗
I told her how I couldn't wait to see mine because I felt deep down that we'll be going to the same place. Told her with so much excitement that we'll see soon.
She also encouraged me to keep checking the internet that mine may only be delayed because of the huge traffic the site may be experiencing but I should keep checking.
Kai, little did I know..
I finally slept off but not for too long.
12:10am.
I was awake again.
With sleepy eyes, I checked once more.
It was loading now..
I waited.
Silently prayed.
Then it showed up.
There it was, written in very tiny font.

State of Deployment: Gombe
*Clears eyes one, two, three times*
Reload internet.
State of Deployment: Gombe
"What is happening?"
Reload.
Gombe was still staring back at me. What the..!
It was at this point I understood the full meaning of my prayers in CAPITAL letters.
Lord let your will be done.
God's will may not always be what you envision it to be. So anytime you pray such a prayer always have an open mind to whatever He may bring.
Only a yielded and broken man will submit at such times.
I quickly checked to see the map of Nigeria and also download.
To think of it, I haven't even heard anything about this place before.
We only recite it as one of the States and Capital 🤷.
"Do people really live there?"
"What's it like over there?"
I kept asking until I finally spotted it on the map.
Then I heard quietly in my heart.
to the ends of the Earth
I voiced out loudly "to the ends of the Nation"
Gombe really seemed like the far ends of the nation(Nigeria) compared to where I was at the time.
Okay, so this was it all the while.
I texted my brother and also my other mum.
Not my parents yet 😁😁
I wrote to her.. "Mum, the Lord has chosen to send me to the ends of the Nation. I have received my call-up letter. It's Gombe State".
I went for my training later that morning and disclosed the latest to them. They were happy and they prayed for me.
One of the elderly men there even wrote his contact on a sheet of paper for me alongside two others. He said these two people were contacts in Gombe, and I could reach out to them in case of anything.
I thanked him and left.
God, what is it about this place you're sending me to?
*sighs* 😪

Wow! God's plan is amazing. Same experience I had, although I was expecting something near but I didn't hesitate once I got my call up. Had already prayed that I'd go to wherever I'm posted. As I believed it's God's will for me to be there at that point. - Japheth O.
